A Little Bit About Me and My Philosophy of Education
I grew up in the small town of Fairfax, SD and graduated from Bonesteel-Fairfax High School. While there I participated in almost every activity available to students. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I know that if I would have went to school in a larger town that I would not have had the opportunities and experiences that I did. I feel that the students of the Scotland School District are lucky to be part of a small school and should take advantage of every opportunity that they can.

After high school, I attended South Dakota State University. I graduated from there in December 2007 and took a job as a teaching assistant at Deubrook High School for the spring of 2008 semester. In the fall of 2008 I started working at Scotland High School as the high school English teacher.  In the spring of 2011 I finished my Master's Degree in Education in Curriculum and Instruction.

My husband Joe and I currently live on a farm east of Scotland with our 3 sons and 1 daughter: Lucas (3rd grade), Riley (2nd grade), Alex (4 years old), and Natalie (1 year old).

I truly believe that all students can learn if they want to. The reason I take classes and read books about education is to continue to improve myself and my teaching abilities. I expect that same work ethic from my students. If a student is working hard and trying, I will not let them fail. I will do everything in my power to help them understand the material. I believe that education and hard work can take a person anywhere they want to go, but it is up to the student to choose to take advantage of the opportunity.
